Over the last sixty years, IIT Kharagpur has consistently established new and improving standards in higher engineering education. Postgraduate degree programmes at IIT Kharagpur lead to Joint MTech / MCP-PhD, MBA and MMST degrees. In addition, the Institute also offers Integrated MSc programmes and Joint MSc-PhD programmes.
The curricula and pedagogy in these programmes are periodically updated with focus on quality and excellence to meet the demands of the changing world.

MBA
The Master of Business Administration (MBA), the flagship programme of the Vinod Gupta School of Management at the Institute is a full-time four-semester (2-year) residential programme for graduate engineers and Masters' degree holders in science, economics and commerce, who intend to pursue management careers in India and abroad. The MBA curriculum has evolved to be among the best in the country, combining the traditional strengths of IIT in technical education with modern management philosophy. Teaching techniques include a judicious mix of lectures, case-studies, group projects and workshops. A two-month summer internship in industry exposes students to practical management problems.
EMBA
The EMBA is a three-year (12-trimester) programme for working executives delivered from the Kolkata and Bhubaneswar campuses of IIT Kharagpur, which leads to the degree of Master of Business Administration from IIT Kharagpur. The EMBA programme enables working executives to upgrade their managerial knowledge and skill while continuing to be employed. This rigorous, fully classroom-based programme is held during weekends, while the participants get an opportunity to practice the concepts learnt in classrooms at their workplace. Over the last three terms, the participants engage themselves in individual projects where they attend to a real life problem.
Masters Program in Medical Science and Technology (MMST)
The School of Medical Science & Technology at IIT Kharagpur, launched with the objective to provide a platform of interdisciplinary teaching and research in diverse areas of medical science and technology, offers an interdisciplinary three-year Masters Program in Medical Science and Technology (MMST), the first of its kind in the country. Admission to the MMST program is granted to MBBS doctors each year on the basis of the performance in an entrance test conducted all over the country. The MMST programme offered by the School is the only comprehensive physician-scientist training program in India which aims to bridge the gap that has historically separated biological sciences from engineering and physical sciences.
Masters Program in Law (LL.M)
The Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law (RGSOIPL), established in 2006, has the unique feature of imparting conventional legal education along with contemporary law courses that cater to the needs of the global economy, including IPRs and fields related thereto. The School works to incorporate world-class excellence in legal education in India. Its enviable infra-structure and academic ambience, coupled bonded with a student-friendly atmosphere, nurtures the desire to excel.
In addition to the LL.B and the doctoral degree (Ph.D) programme, RGSOIPL has launched a two-year Master's degree programme (LL.M). The LL.M. programme offers a wide range of specializations including Intellectual Property, Corporate Laws, Taxation, Criminal Laws, International Law, Constitutional Law and Competition Law.
