Transport phenomena is one of the fundamental subjects in Chemical Engineering. The research problems in the broader context of fluid dynamics, I have been working are-

(i) Particle clustering, formation of superstructures, and even new phases are immediate consequences of these anisotropic interactions due to the liquid crystal ordering. The studies help in understanding and controlling colloid transport characteristics in such medium.
(ii) The interface between immiscible fluid phases has engineering applications in separation, conformal coating and self-assembly systems. The work helps in understanding the behaviour and fate of magnetic microparticles near and across an immiscible fluid interface.
(iii) Formation of microfibre in the process of reactive fluid flow in an intriguing transport phenomena problem. The interplay of the reaction, diffusion and convection define the physical characteristics of the gelled fibres. These microfibres are typically used in the drilling fluids acting as sealant, lubricants, seepage prevention, etc.
(iv) With recent advancements in manufacturing capabilities of controlled porous structure, the mechanism of convective and diffusive transport in porous medium is a relevant branch of study. The research focusses on quantitative impact on the overall permeability as a function of the porous structure network.
(v) Fracturing and fluid instability in the soft elastic porous materials and matrix. This has applications in oil well drilling and geological processes.
(vi) Classical heat and mass transfer problems with an objective on improving the traditional design relations.
