Our research group focuses on three key areas: Neuroscience, Aging, and Alzheimer's disease; Medical Education Techniques; and Quality Control in laboratory settings. In our investigations, we use animal models to explore the impact of proinflammatory factors, oxidative stress, and molecular markers on aging and associated complications. We also examine the potential connections between diabetes, metabolic syndrome, dementia, and immunological factors. Our aim is to deepen the understanding of these complex conditions and identify interventions to mitigate their progression.
We have expertise in various research tools and techniques, including molecular biology, immunodetection, proteomics, mitochondrial bioenergetics, and cell culture methods. These skills enhance our research capabilities and allow us to conduct comprehensive studies.
In the area of Medical Education Techniques, we evaluate faculty perceptions of teacher training programs and assessment methods in the context of a new MBBS curriculum. Through thorough assessments and feedback analysis, we identify areas for improvement in teaching, learning, and assessment strategies. By implementing evidence-based changes, we strive to enhance the quality of medical education and align it with the evolving needs of the healthcare industry.
As full-time consultants in Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine, we actively research Quality Control and laboratory errors. Our focus is on identifying and monitoring quality indicators to improve pre-analytical errors and using six sigma metrics principles to investigate and mitigate analytical errors. By optimizing laboratory processes and implementing robust quality control measures, we contribute to the accuracy, reliability, and safety of diagnostic testing, ultimately improving patient care.
In summary, our research group is dedicated to advancing knowledge in critical areas of the medical sciences. Through collaboration and a diverse skill set, we deepen our understanding of neurosciences, aging, and Alzheimer's disease, enhance medical education techniques, and improve laboratory quality control. Our ultimate goal is to generate valuable insights that inform healthcare practices and positively impact patient outcomes.
