Dr. Mohammed Rabius Sunny holds a joint appointment in Department of Aerospace Engineering and the Department of Ocean Engineering and Naval Architecture. His research group is currently working on structural health monitoring and fluid structure interaction of both composite and metallic structures.
Presently he is developing a laboratory facility for resin infusion based composite fabrication and electro-mechanical impedance based damage detection.
In the area of fluid structure interaction his group is looking into the hydroelastic analysis of ships in wave, nonlinear fluid structure interaction of large wind turbine blades and offshore wind turbine towers.
