Research Areas

  • Reinforced soil structures
  • Ground Improvement
I primerily work on ground improvement using Geocell Reinforcement. Several series of tests conducted establishes that geocell is a superior form of reinforcement over the conventional ones i.e. planar geogrid and randomly oriented fibers. Owing to three dimensional confinements, it can sustain heavy contact pressures making it worthy of application in sensitive geotechnical structures such as railways, highways and airfield pavements etc. Findings from these studies provide important guidelines for design and construction of geocell reinforced foundations for civil engineering infrastructures. I also work on application of stone columns and chemical stabilisation, for performance improvement of weak soils.
