Research Areas

I am working in the area of Experimental and Numerical Geomechanics. Our group handles varieties of engineering design problems from mining and petroleum industry.  To name a few: charecterization of soil and rock/  Fracture propagation through rock mass/ Structural design of Haul road/ Development of paste backfill material/ Rock structure design for surface and underground excavations and others.  Presently sponsored research by Ministry of Mines (GOI), for design of underground mining method for weak rock mass condition is underway along with industrial consultancy by government and private indrustry for design of waste dump, Slope in soft and hard rock; Haul road, Subsidence prediction; Underground openings, Pillar, Shaft, Stope and related area; Geotechnical Instrumentation and Monitoring.  To have a close interaction with industry, short courses are offered for Rock Mechanics, Design of roc structures and Numerical Modeling.
