Mining Engineering is primarily an industry dealing with excavation of mineral resources. So the prime objective of mining is to excavation of rock/mineral. Being a Mining Engineer and faculty my key research interest is also on the excavation techniques of rocks and minerals. This includes excavation by blasting and excavation by mechanized means, namely, surface miner, road header, TBM etc. The excavation engineering is also associated with the understanding of rock as a medium of excavation and thus the characterization of rock from the excavation point of view is also one of my research interests. For the same, a number of geo-physical and geo-technical tools are also required to be used and thus the improvements of those tools for the rock characterization point of view are also another domain of research of interests. Apart from that development of a number of innovative electronic devices in the field of rock excavation is being developed. Economics and financial analysis of different unit operations are also an important area to work and similar consultations are being provided to a number of mining and civil sectors for their sustainable development and growth.
