Mahitosh Mandal is a Professor of School of Medical Science and Technology , Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur. He received his PhD from Indian Institute of Chemical Biology, Jadavpur, Kolkata. A former Assistant Professor and Research Scientist of M D Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX, USA, and Visiting faculty of Virginia Common wealth University, Richmond, USA. He was honoured with: Prof S S Katiyar Endowment Award by Indian Science Congress; Subha Mukherjee Memorial Award by Physiological Society of India : Basanti Devi Amir Chand Award by ICMR  and National Scholarship by Govt of West Bengal. He is Fellow of the Indian Natl. Science Academy; Indian Academy of Sciences; National Academy of Sciences, India; West Bengal Academy of Science and Technology and Royal Society of Biology UK. He is Arvind & Renu Jain Chair Professor & J C Bose National Fellow. He is a member of the Science Education Panel of the Indian Science Academies.Dr Mandal, along with a team of oncologist, physicist and engineers are trying to  engineered some nanoparticles for cancer drug delivery ,determine the changes of molecular and bio-electrical properties in cancer.
