The Medical Imaging and Theranostics Lab (MITLab@IIT Kharagpur) is involved in a broad spectrum of medical imaging and image processing application from Microscopy to Radiology. We have in-house imaging facilities for Fluorescence microscopy, Stereo microscopy, optical coherence tomography, clinical ultrasound imaging, and integrated cell culture and tissue processing capabilities. The current focus areas in translational medical research are oral and breast cancer, wound healing, cardiac imaging and signal processing, and developing novel point-of-care microscopy and photoacoustic devices. We are working closely with Medical faculty members of Dr. B C Roy Multi Speciality Medical Research Centre and external hospitals (viz. Fortis, Tata Medical Center, LEF Purulia, LVPEI Hyderabad, and SSSIHMS, Whitefield) for clinical CT, MR, and ophthalmology imaging. Our industry partners include GE Healthcare, TCS Research, Erbe Elektromedizin Group, Germany, and Microsoft Research. We are collaborating with national institutes like AIIMS, IISER, ILBS and internationally with universities like TU Munich, ETH Zurich, Postech (South Korea), and the University of Toronto.
The Lab has an illustrious history of over 15 years, with successful alums in academia and industry worldwide. We are glad to receive the mentorship of our former PIs, Prof. Ajoy K Ray, Padmashree, and Prof. Jyotirmoy Chatterjee, and support from a robust advisory group of academic and industry leaders.
