Research Areas

  • Atherosclerosis and non-coding RNAs
  • Immune interaction in heart and vessels
  • Heart failure and vascular biology
  • Pre-clinical and clinical data analysis
We're working on the cardiovascular biology:

- Molecular cardiology and vascular biology: (Key words: heart failure, inflammation & atherosclerosis, apoptosis & novel modes of cell death, non-coding RNAs) This involves in vitro and in vivo modeling of heart related diseases. With the help of various primary cells and cell lines, genetically modified mice and surgery, we induce diseases & pathologically similar conditions to study cardiovascular problems at cellular level.
- We are also engaged in cardio-oncology studies, specifically studying the vascular dysfunction in cancer patients related to genotoxic chemotherapy and genetic analysis to identify genes predisposing to increased toxicity.
- Another project aims at studying endothelial dysfunction caused by antibodies that are known to induce thrombotic thrombocytopenia in COVID-19.
