Trained as an environmental sociologist, my research explores the political ecology of forest conservation, environmental politics, natural resource-based livelihoods and urban environmentalism. My expertise is in qualitative research methods and my past and current research largely employs ethnography as a method and practice. My field areas are primarily in West Bengal, Maharashtra and Karnataka, where I worked on environmental conflicts at different scales. My research is interdisciplinary and I would be interested in potential collaborations across different disciplines, which engage in environmental issues.
